Apple Wallet is not working on phone!

My Apple Wallet/Pay stopped working randomly on Sunday. The wallet won't pop up when I double click the side button and when I try to open directly from the app it freezes with a blank screen. If it does open it is super delayed and laggy. I have tried EVERYTHING and currently have a ticket open with apple to investigate. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? For context, I have an Apple Card, Apple Savings, transit card and Mastercard Debit Card, all which have stopped working.


Troubleshooting steps I've taken:

  1. Sign out of Apple ID, force restart, sign back in
  2. Force restart app
  3. Remove cards and re add (now cannot re add cards, but can open app)
  4. Reselect region in settings


It's worth noting that I checked out the apple system reports and noticed maintenance was performed on Apple Pay and Wallet on Sunday, which is when my issues began. Extremely frustrated over here since I use Apple Pay for 90% of my transactions.

So same issue…tried multiple time to add card into wallet also signed out of icloud, turned off phone hard reset,also uninstalled the wallet app.

FINALLY got in touch with Apple. they helped me out remotely…he told me to download the bank apps & inside the app most of them have options to “Add to wallet”. That worked for me,hope it works for you..Good luck!

Do you have any of the Accessibility settings/features enabled in your Settings app? It sounds like you may have an issue with the side button or NFC module. Apple Support can do remote diagnostics of NFC module, not sure about side button and double clicking. You can contact Apple Support at 1-800-MY-APPLE.


Make sure you have updated your iPhone to the latest version if IOS.

Lastly, perform a forced restart of your iPhone. Please follow the instructions below. A forced restart is much more than just turning iPhone off and on.

I’m having this exact same issue. Every time I press the (+) button to add a new card, I get the same “Could Not Set Up Apple Pay” error message. Same thing with Apple Cash. I tried managing it through settings, but still nothing. The Double-Click Side Button function also stopped working. So inconvenient. I’m not really sure what else to do except for make an appointment at my local Apple Store to have it looked at, because everything seems to be in perfect working order. I just can’t get past those error messages.
