Is ChatGPT Atlas an Apple product?

Is ChatGPT Atlas an Apple product and is there a forum about it here? I'm quite enjoying it (except when I'm not).

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 26.1

Why do you say "Apple seems to be quite keen on it"? Don't confuse ChatGPT integration in Apple Intelligence with ChatGPT Atlas that is a separate browser installed on a Mac by going to the OpenAI website and downloading it manually.

Personally I would not be using ChatGPT Atlas as a browser due to the many security concerns already exposed in that app. It does correctly ask for your permission for data on your device after install as required by Apple to protect your data, but most will just click Allow without realizing the consequences. Do you really want to give it Keychain Access to know your Passwords for other services? What additional information can be gained about you when it can access content from those services? Any page you navigate to is scraped since they are the ones providing you the data and any page request you make is remembered so they know what you are looking for and interested in. Enter a bank account number on one of those websites and you have now given them that information as well.

Hello~ Colloquial metaphors are best avoided here in a technical forum. You stated that “ Consumers are in no position to have an independent, informed opinion on the matter” what exactly are you hoping to have explained? Are you using ChatGPT now?
Sometimes I think you, me, and Mac Jim ID are all related...
You must be as I highly respect all 3 of you!
Hello~ You are much respected as well!! Now…off to think of sentences in which to use all the cool words in *MrHoffmans post…

Not like it was, uh, er, um, a veiled attempt to be considered a relation! 😂😇

If you are worried then don’t turn it on. It is not enabled by default. You have to establish an account with Open AI (free or paid) and then enable and sign in on which ever device supports Apple Intelligence.

What exactly do you mean by its “mind reading capabilities”? It doesn’t read minds and I’m afraid you have been reading too much disinformation about what AI is and how it works. It is not sentient in any way, shape or form.

In technical discussions, metaphors, allusions, and colloquialisms can hinder communications. I know this indubitably, as I trend abstruse. Sometimes obtuse. Occasionally even full-on Darmok. 😉🤪

I wonder what it says about me that I am pleased by your use of the word "abstruse," as I think it's a great word and much underused. And that I know what you meant by "Darmok" without even clicking on the link.
