Facebook app crashes on my iPad after updating to iOS 18.4

I have 2 ipads (A2925 and A2377) and the Facebook app is unuseable on both of them after updating to 18.4. As soon as I open Facebook, it either shuts back down, or if it is able to load, it will shut down as soon as I begin to scroll. The facebook app is up to date. I have also done a force restart on both iPads. It was working fine before the update.

The app IS working on my iPhone 15 Pro Max, but not at all on both iPads. Is this happening to anyone else? Is there a solution?

💥💥 I have an IPad Pro with 18.4.1 and since the last update my Facebook App is crashing non-stop any time I try to use the search function. I tried deleting the app and its data then powering down my ipad and powering back up and reinstalling the Facebook app and even after three times doing all this there is no improvement. Facebook is running fine on my iPhone 15 Pro and on my other iPad Pro with an older O.S. But this is the iPad I use the most because it has the Magic Keyboard. I need to have access to Facebook so this is unacceptable and I hope Apple and/or Meta gets it squared away promptly💥💥

The FB app crashes on my iPad iOS 18.4. I can use Facebook on the browser. It’s the app that crashes non stop. Do better Facebook! I have a keyboard and it is NOT an Apple Magic Keyboard. It’s some off brand keyboard. If I remove it then I cannot use it for other apps that works and have no problem. Facebook needs to fix this. This is their app not Apple’s app.

My iPad was just updated today and I am having the same issue

Called Apple support they remote into my device and replicated same issue after a shut down and reinstall.

This probably is a third-party issue in with Facebook.

I recommend you call Apple support and report this issue formally so that they know that multiple users are experiencing this, and they will probably contact the third-party on our behalf

Meta will see the rating and the review is particularly important to let other users know about your experience. There is nothing Apple can do to solve the problem with the Facebook app. In fact, for a free download such as Facebook, Apple doesn't even receive any income for users installing it on their device. Meta will have an update, there have been 11 updates in just the last month for bug fixes, which is just about 3 a week. The last one was 2 days ago, so I am sure there is another one right around the corner. Let's hope they actually test the update before releasing it, so it is not their users being the bug testers.

This is frustratingly still happening for me.

I just went to the Apple App store and lowered my review of their Facebook app to 1 star, along with what has been happening and that rebooting my I-Pad pro does nothing to stop this, nor, deleting and reloading the app.

I’m hoping apple and facebook see the review. If we all so this and the rating goes down, hopefully they will repair the app.

What a great idea to leave word of the problem in a review of the FB app in the App Store!! I have the same issues and just left a review, detailing the problems.

Apple you need to fix this ASAP!

It is Facebook that needs to fix it. Apple cannot update the Facebook app. That is just another of the long list of bugs found in the Facebook app. Don't forget Meta has updated the app 11 times in just the last month to address other bugs. They will eventually get around to this one too, but there is no guarantee that they will not also introduce other bugs. Let Facebook know how you feel!

💯. I’ve been having this issue on my M4 iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard since 18.4 update.

For me, the Facebook iPad app crashes everytime I click on the “Photos” link and begin to scroll photos.

I just tried removing my Magic Keyboard….Problem gone! I can click on the “Photos” link and scroll through photos…no problem.

Reattach the Magic Keyboard…problem resurfaces!

It is a known problem with the Facebook app. Meta uses Custom Text Fields for input instead of using the Apple supplied UITextField, which is why you only see the problem with the Facebook app. It was just a couple of months ago where black boxes were appearing over the Text Fields and a year ago they had the same problem with text inputed from the Magic Keyboard causing the app to freeze.

Meta has updated Facebook 11 times in just the last month for bug fixes and they will eventually get around to this one too. The big question is will it break something else. They don't have a very good track record with iPad development.
