How can I remove icons from my iPhone mail list?

Thanks this was great. Apple is more cumbersome than needed. It’s also limiting. The more information to customize for each users needs gives the user a better experience.

Repeating—How to get rid of icons on individual emails?

I have that turned on and I don’t get to see the icons. My wife’s iPhone 15 shows them. I turn it off and turn it on and still do not get the icons. I actually want them.

I don’t mind having contact images, because they are small. But these HUGH colored kid boxes are way too much. Some of the updates as of late are moronic!

Thank you. The category icons were such a distraction and a nuisance. In iOS 18 the icons came turned on as if someone whated to demonstrate their “great work” to the iPhone community.

Thank you for help in removing "show contact photos." This problem originated after I installed iOS 18.3 yesterday...so annoying. Change for change's sake isn't always a good idea.
