iOS 18 Photos Text Color Issue

It won't stay open. You can touch the little black dot all you want it only flashes the color palette and disappears. THAT is the problem everyone is talking about.

It works by removing the system font that’s labeled Ariel Black.

18.2.1 Bug is still there, I was hope they will fix it. 🧐 Still can’t edit text or change color on the photo.

Exactly the same here. It occurs when I choose to add text to a photo and select the color. It shuts off every time I select the color tool.

They put fancy stuff in updates (e.g. animated emojis for text) and then regular tools don’t work.

That’s exactly where it’s crashing. The window immediately drops after opening. Then it glitches out the other text editing boxes. Cant change color on the other options either.

not to piggyback on this topic; but I haven’t been able to get my text to be on top of other edits in a few months now. Anytime I use type in markup, it’s always on the bottom layer, which makes ZERO sense. Because text is 99% of the time on the top layer.

This worked for me…it isn’t easier though, it’s another step. Who makes these changes???? Do they actually use it? More things are being hidden and getting harder to find…this isn’t progress, it’s perturbation.

Yes it happened after I updated to 18.0.1 and now 18.1 still has not fixed it. I used it regularly to change the text colour I add to photos so this is super annoying as I cannot add text to dark photos at all.

Wtaf Apple. This is terrible. The text format color chooser just appears for a fraction of a second and disappears. Not only that, but when you try to select text, it gets covered by the suggestion bar and you can’t see what you’re typing. Did you even test this before cramming it into our phones?

This seems like it might be related to many factors. I thought I’d look into this issue and lo and behold, no issue?

Is this what everyone is doing?

Color stays, change styles, fonts etc. and not an issue.

Just noticed this same problem today. Have a very dark background image I need to put text over. The only color available is black and I cannot change it via any method. Can’t have black text over a dark image as it will just vanish.

I am having the same issue unfortunately. Trying to markup a photo from my daughter’s candlelight vigil, and spread fentanyl awareness. Black on black just won’t cut it. Any other photo apps that anyone knows of that I can use to add lettering (in color) ? Thanks for any feedback!

I updated the iOS and now cannot change font or color in the mark up feature! I see this isn’t just one of MY favorite features, as this forum lists at least 198 others who edit their pictures on their phones and are now affected by this glitch. FIX THIS! Why offer updates that screw up existing feature? Also… why does auto correct replace a word ending in ‘s’ with the same word (singular), a SPACE and an ‘a’?!?!?!

when I edit my photos, I can’t even change the color. This is ******* me off big-time. Why didn’t I have an expensive phone and you can’t use it?

How long is it going to take before Apple fixes this issue? It’s been over a month now and the last iOS update did nothing about it.
