iOS 18 Photos Text Color Issue

AGREE!!! Quite frustrating. Pls add me to the list of users who EAGERLY AWAIT THE FIX FOR THIS. None of the "fixes" below seem to work. The lovely screenshot doesn't work because the text color icon immediately closes.

Same here. I upgraded to 16 Pro Max a couple of days ago. Can no longer change the font or color in the mark up feature. Very frustrating issue. You can hardly see the text on some photos unless I make the text bold. Hopefully this is a glitch that will be rectified as ASAP rather than a permanent feature.

Same here. Last week was able to change text color just fine now I can’t get anything but black. I am using an iPhone SE.

Im trying to sell some items online and I need to add descriptions to the photos which have a black background. I’m dead in the water !

What's on my mind is why have Apple not heard the phrase "if it's not broken, don't fix it!" This bug whereby the text colour in photo annotation cannot be changed is inexcusable. I use it a lot, please fix asap, preferably by yesterday.

Don't you put beta versions out for testing?

I saw another note yesterday in which a contributor noted that the problem had been fixed.

However when I tried to edit some photos for publication, I found the same persisting inability to alter the font color.

This is extremely challenging, and I am hopeful that APPLE will take note and address this.

Apple’s genius has provided us with so many capabilities on these phones that we formerly thought of as “optional” but now use as critical parts of our work, that when they do not function, it is a great hardship.

So, changing the text colors on markup still broken and Apple products have been lacking in quality lately. It wasn't working for a long time then it worked after a small update. Then the next update screwed it up again. Freaking ridiculous when these devices are the most expensive.

I can no longer change text color in markup in Photos app on iPhone. It’s was working fine but all of a sudden it stopped working! I’ve shut it down several times hoping it would correct itself but you go to the text box… I hit bold and italic... select point size then I go to the dot that’s black and I wanna make it white and it comes on for an “instant” but immediately disappears before I can even touch the color …it goes away. What’s up with that and how soon can it be fixed because it was working earlier this evening? I am in iOS 18 and I really do not like it! So many changes …not for the better that I can tell.

Surely Apple would have checked that the text colour could be changed before releasing ios18? Plus the ability to select a default text colour (eg white instead of black) would be very helpful. Very disappointed this glitch has not been quickly resolved

Same here!!! I use this tool for my business instagram posts and only having black as text colour doesn’t cut it!!!! These upgrades are driving me mad - things are good and then they mess with it and there is no one to talk to. The duo-language keyboard is another totally unnecessary change. Instead of trying to correct spelling in one language, it uses both languages to autocorrect when I only typing in one….

Thank you so much! It’s a hassle but at least it worked! I couldn’t get the color hack down yet but the font change worked. So weird the little alteration box that doesn’t work stayed up while using this roundabout method. Super grateful ImagineHobbes!

Still an issue with 18.2 update. Grrr! It’s so frustrating. I cannot change text style, color or style. The box opens but when I try to change anything I click the size, style or color and it disappears and does not change.

A solution was posted by Apple about 7-10 days ago. Scroll down to find it. I am MOVING my text around and changing from RT-justified to CENTER or to LEFT-justified, CHANGING COLOR, CHANGING FONTS. It is a combination of FORMAT, SELECT, and also the "Aa". Play with it. It works....and, yes, JUST IN TIME for the holidays. You can do this.

I am using 18.2 on my iPhone 16.

Same with me! I use apple photo editor quite a bit to create art for my band, but now can’t use it anymore because I can’t change the font color at all. I was able to finally change the font itself but it took a while to figure it out. Definitely miss the editor before the 18 update, it’s a bit of a mess now and pretty much unusable. :(

Dear Boston Bat - kindly see my post of 12-26. It is a bit circuitous, but it works and I'm SO HAPPY to be able to change my font sizes, types, and colors JUST LIKE BEFORE. This was an annoyance, but part of the challenges of a constant improvement. Best for 2025.

Apple has obviously lost the hunger to satisfy already captured customers and loyalty. Thus problem has been raised online for over 2 months. They’re losing customer centricity. There are other competitive phone brands out there too
