iOS 18 Photos Text Color Issue

Issue(s) with changing color w/ markup text block repeatedly encountered. Changing color of shapes worked once after adding shape but failed similarly as Text block trying to change/edit display features. Options move or blocked on screen and then disappear all together. Screen recording uploaded to DB. iP15 Pro iOS v18.1

Ecran bleu workaround - This actually worked for me. TEXT color changed and formatting options remains visible. HOWEVER doesn’t appear to work 100% when adding shapes. Tap eraser first then add shape. One shot shows how options view is partially obstructed

Same problem here, color option window opens for a split second then closes not allowing you to change text color. Come on apple really? You do these updates to enhance features no one even cares about then create bugs for features that I use a a daily basis. What a joke.

I updated my 2024 iPhone 15 pro from iOS17 to iOS18 about a month ago. Previously I had been able to add text to photos in a wide selection of colours very easily - see the picture with the label KEN in red. This feature was very easy and an important labelling function to draw contrasts and colour selection is needed because of the photo colour might be black and a black text label will not show. Or with several labels the color can be referenced in text. Then the UPDATE of iOS to 18 lost this functionality - attempting to choose text colour showed an microsecond flash of the colour selection and then it goes.. Tried many many times. I showed an assistant in the APPLE STORE highpoint Melbourne this week who said I should update to latest iOS18.2 which should have happened automatically as I had autoupdate selected but it didn't - so today I did the update and EXACTLY the same issue is still occurring .. WHEN IS APPLE going to fix this - with a new iPhone this is a consumer affairs issue as the system update had DEGRADED the iPhone Functionality and judging by the many complaints APPLE has had at least a month to fix this.. SO yes I am angry as I use this function often .. As an example I include a picture where the RED text was added using my iPhone 15 pro on iOS17 which came with the phone in August 2024 so before the update to iOS18

The font colour pop up when editing photos does not work - it keeps disappearing. Public comments have appeared on this problem since at least early October. Seems it’s an iOS 18 problem. FIX IT

I need to change the text color for images I use that have different backgrounds where black simply won’t work. I’m on an iphone 14 Pro Max and updated to ios 18. The color selections are there, but it won’t change for me either. Mine does not crash, but I select the color and nothing happens. This actually impacts my work and business. No more iphones for me…all the money and you simply can’t use it the way you need to.

Thank you for this and yes that worked before the latest 18.1.1 update (or whatever the most recent on is). It's definitely not a user-doesn't-know-how issue but more of a glitch that just shuts off the option to choose. It's like if someone tells you how to send an email and explains you should select "compose" and when you do that the email system shuts down lol. Either way it's not a deal-breaker just nice to have when it was available and we get angry when something is available only to be gaslit by Apple at the next update. Ha.

Work around, highlight text and format, provides option of choosing a different text but color change does not hold, lag in response or doesn’t update at all.

As others pointed out, this a a direct result of 18.1 and .1 did not resolve. PLEASE fix so edit of text can be directly on photo, just like it was. Needed for watermarking photos, asap. Thanks

I still see this issue (can’t change text color in markup on photos) being reported despite a solution which was described two days ago.

The bug has been fixed and I’ve been able to change the text color as I did before the iOS 18 update.

I’m hoping everyone will ultimately see the solution OR just RETRY and also be elated that this functionality has been restored quite quickly!!! TY.

Apple obviously haven’t sorted this as I’m having the same issue when attempting to change text colour. Looking at previous posts ^ this has been an issue for 4 months & nothing has been done!!! Atrocious

First of the advisor is not the problem. Apple itself is the problem. You Apple train and advise your support team always wrong and unreliable information. Almost every time I have to go on internet or look at Apple discussion treads and find the solution. And the solution for rebooting or reinstalling the new phone hardware almost never works. Stop giving your tech people this choice. The problem almost always relies in your very own software glitches.

So for this problem of text to change color.

I found that you can do the format by selecting the word and taping format.

But then later reading more I. Discussions I later found that you can hit markup and tape in the erase and then everything goes back to normal. So again. An Apple glitch. Very frustrating and disappointing a company so massive can’t share this information in all related issues. Because I learned that months ago from the treads that if you did this with the erase it would solve the problem. So again. Why did I contact three tech people and all them told me to reset my phone or do a hard reset. Lucky I don’t listen to this people and make it harder on myself to reprogram ever Back. I learned 10 years ago this resetting almost never works. Stop tell the people this.

Nope. My 13 Pro Max has the issue. Reported right after 18 update. No color change in markup or when using the format option, no option for changing opacity either
