Passwords folder missing on iPad Air and iPhone since IOS update to 18.0.1

Passwords are working but the Passwords folder is missing from Settings on my iPad Air and iPhone XR, since the latest update to 18.0.1. Please advise how to access Passwords. Thank you.

Having updated to iOS/iPadOS 18.x, you will not find your saved Passwords in iPhone or iPad device settings. All saved passwords have been migrated to the new Passwords App.

Having updated to iOS/iPadOS 18.x, you will not find your saved Passwords in iPhone or iPad device settings. All saved passwords have been migrated to the new Passwords App which you will find on one of your Home Screens, or from the App Library.

If you only see a blank page when you open the Passwords App, assuming that the Passwords App has been added to the Dock...

With the Passwords App open to the blank page, swipe upwards from the bottom of the screen to expose the Dock - tap the Password App icon - then tap New Window. This should open another Passwords App window showing your stored Passwords.

Apple just did an update, my password setting icon disappeared, and it a now a icon on main page!! Why? I have no control over what goes on my IPad pages. Who does Apple think they are?

What password app? I don’t have one. Also, the settings/wifi/edit takes me to my networks I’ve used in the past, not passwords. Help!

The new Passwords App is only available to devices that have been updated to iOS/iPadOS 18.x.

As already outlined in my earlier reply, WiFi Passwords are accessible (exactly as before - per iPadOS 16/17) via device settings:

Settings > WiFi - tap the blue Edit button at top-right of the settings page

Try deleting the Passwords App from your iPad (don't worry, your saved Passwords are still safely stored in iCloud).

Remove or delete apps from iPad - Apple Support

Having removed the Passwords App, restart your iPad:

Force restart iPad - Apple Support

After the iPad restarts, re-install the Passwords App from the App Store:

You're very welcome.

Addition of the Passwords App - and loss of finding saved Passwords in device settings, will no doubt have caught many established users of iOS/iPadOS by surprise.

It is perhaps worth noting that your WiFi Passwords, in addition to being accessible in the Passwords App, remain accessible as before via device settings:

Settings > WiFi - tap the blue Edit button at top-right of the settings page

This suggestion re settings wifi edit route hasn’t worked for me. It just comes up with all the wifis I have ever used, nothing to do with passwords. There also a number of icons in my settings menu which have gone grey since the latest update. I have also noticed that my autofill email address for PayPal is no longer spelt correctly. Can I ditch my latest update and retrieve the old one?

This is the LAST Apple product of any kind i will ever buy. Something is seriously wrong with this company. Every update is horrible, customers concerns are NEVER addressed, the photos app is ruined, and now the passwords are gone.

Thats why i picked the uses name Appleneverlistens because they never listen and they never will listen. Just give up on them.

Re missing Passwords folder - The three coloured key app is on my Home Screen but when signing in it’s completely blank. NOTHING has been migrated into it.

in the settings for AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys this is shown as on (button green).

Beneath this is “AutoFill From” with options Passwords, Chrome, Google. All three are off so I have just turned on Passwords just now (Slid the button to Green). For passkeys, passwords and codes. Have no idea what it’s for but rebooted iPad. Logged into the app - still BLANK! I’ve turned it back to off.

desperately need a solution here….

What I hate about Apple is their continued “upgrades” of features that already work perfectly fine. Furthermore, the arbitrary, and unnecessary, changes seem to come out of nowhere with no prior notification or instructions. Everyone then goes to the discussions only to find hundreds of comments and suggestions that, according to posted replies, are incomplete, inaccurate, do not work for all generations or are just flat out wrong. A greater fear of using these suggestions is losing what is actually still working. The sudden unnecessary changes seem to be little more than some tech genius trying to justify their job. This is my sixth and final iPad. I know Apple couldn’t care less but it will free me up of the arbitrary ridiculous upgrades.

You could sign up to the Beta updates programme. That way you'll get to try out possoible new features before they go live and give Apple devs feedback on them. Apple trials most of its changes this way so if they make it to the next update it's because the feedback they got during beta trials was mostly positive.

The "hundreds of comments" about features that you see here pale into insignificance compared to the millions of users who are not complaining. Apple can't create a custom build for everyone and even if they did just a couple of builds or had lagging builds the cost of maintaining two versions of software are massive. And even then there would be people who don't like it..

Regarding your getting out of Apple products to free you up from, as you put it, arbitrary ridiculous upgrades; I don't know what you plan to do but every product out there changes and upgrades its product on similar lifecyle times. Maybe spend some time on the Android boards first to make sure that it really is all sweetness and light over there.
