Siri not responding on iPhone 16 Pro Max

As title says, Siri is not working. It only works if I press the side button, not by me saying "hey siri" etc.

I have turned siri off and back on again and done the 5 phrases to set it up and still nothing. I have changed the language, changed the voice, changed to prefer spoken response' and still nothing.

Obviously on IOS18.

Has anyone else had this issue because it is driving me mad. £1,400 for a phone and it doesn't work properly!

I went to settings>siri and tried everything suggested. Didn’t fix the problem. But when I went to settings> accessibility> Siri (at the bottom under “general”) and turned on “always listen for Siri” it fixed it. I also turned on “listen for atypical speech”. Sometimes I mumble so i figured it ight help to have on too. Hope this helps someone

Yes every time we have an update I still have to go in each time and redo the “hey Siri” feature. I have noticed that when I’m not using the AI /chat GBT on Siri works just fine and I don’t have to do anything after the updates.

It gets worse.

Since ios 18 came out, siri has had a plethora of issues. One of which I created this post about and it blew up.

A more recent issue (maybe last 2 or 3 updates) is siri wakes up when I say hey siri but doesn't listen to what I say. Then I say it again, it wakes up again and it works.

Same in the car on carplay, press the speak button on the wheel, nothing. Press again and bingo!!

Same with dictation. Press the microphone, it looks like it's listening but there's no haptic feedback when pressed and nothing is dictated. Press again and it does nothing for a second, then the text box has a spinney circle in and then the mic goes to normal (not pressed icon). Press again and bingo, it works........sometimes.

Ready to smash this bloody thing!!

Tried turning off siri and back on etc.

Anyone else had this or is it just me who wants to throw the phone in a fire?

My mom has had this issue with her iphone 16. It's brand new. She thought it was a faulty phone, so she took it back and got a different one. This new one is doing the same exact thing. Talk and text also doesn't work, she'll say something and it will just type, "no" once she's done talking. She turns the phone off and on and it works for a little while before acting up again.

Yes, I am having the exact same problem. Keep having to reboot for everyday or 2 for siri to work with saying "Hey Siri" Iphone 16

Every suggestion here works temporarily. That is the problem, nothing works consistently. It is a bug and needs to be fixed by Apple.

Same for me. Restarting and resetting up Siri makes it better temporarily but then goes back to being flaky, not hearing me, or sometimes hearing me twice.

Been having this issue and done everything suggested.

What has worked is this.....change the voice and download completely. Now SIRI is working. We shall see if this holds up.

Settings, Siri. If you have updated to 18.1 it is Settings, Apple Intellegence & Siri.

I am having the same problem as well works fine for a little while if I power down and back up the phone but eventually stopped working

Sorry, but it was likely the reboot that fixed it. Mine has been set for spoken responses, and I am having this same bug.

I think you’re saying “hey siri” not clearly or you might’ve turned off Siri on your iPhone
