Siri not responding on iPhone 16 Pro Max

Specifically on CarPlay, or when connected via Bluetooth to your Car, Siri will need a second or two in order to receive your sound input from the mic. So when you respond to Siri in the car, give it about 1-2 seconds of a pause before you speak.

Since my last restart and retrain to “hey siri” only mine has been working fine all week now

I had exact same issue and tried everything. I poked on YouTube and finally Found how to actually

This fixed my iPhone now Siri works when I say Siri or hey siri by choosing the prefer spoken responses instead of automatic. That’s all I had to do and mine started working

No I actually removed the iPhone connection in the car and started over. So far it’s working.

EXACT same issue since out of the box on my iPhone 16 Pro. I've tried all of the suggestions listed here. The only thing that helps is powering off and back on, but for me that's been a temporary fix and it goes right back to not working. Even having issues with voice to text in messages and when I activate Siri by holding side button it still doesn't respond at times. Super annoying. Hoping there's an update soon to resolve it.

I use Siri all the time and same issue here. iPhone 16 pro. She’s just dead at this point. Restarting my phone barely even works anymore now, resetting Siri and going through the 5 prompts works but not for long. Definitely a bug with IOS 18.

Same problem on 16 Pro. I’ve worked with Apple support, tried everything they suggested and everything here. It works intermittently, and then after a few hours stops working. This suggested me a conflict with other software that I might use during the day. Then when I reboot, I clear the problem and it will occur when I load the other software again. Just a thought.

But here’s the latest an annoyance. When it’s working, I can hear Siri through my headphones or through, the ear part of the phone (the part you would use if you held it up to your ear). But she no longer talks to me on speaker. Other software works just fine on the speaker, for example, YouTube. I’ve tried turning off Bluetooth and even disconnecting my headphones. That didn’t work. Any suggestions?

I have tried all that’s been mentioned in this group, what has disappeared is Siri doing your typing for you or if you have an email and you want Siri to read it that has also stopped and nothing that has been mentioned so far fixes this issue, what’s been mentioned to me by Apple is supposedly this new up-and-coming AI might be the cause of this happening

I'm having this exact issue with my iPhone 16. I have all the settings correct, but nothing seems to work unless you power it off, which then seems to work for a while. You'd think they would test all features before releasing

I’ve had the same issues with my iPhone 16 Pro. The dictation in messages isn’t working properly and Siri can’t hear me. I’ve went through the hey siri set up many times. If she does hear me, she will wait for me to talk, but doesn’t hear or understand me and Siri will shut off. So whatever I was using Siri for, I will eventually have to do manually (text, get directions, message etc.) Resetting my phone will give me a temporary fix and the issues will start again after a short time. This is very frustrating please fix. iOS is updated to 18.0.1

Not impressed with my first IPhone it’s had a few glitches since I bought it including Siri not working. I’ve changed the settings and rebooted and it’s working (for now). Not holding my breath though

Same here. Siri works for a day or two then stops. Have double, triple, quadruple checked setting and it’s all good. I have to restart the phone to get it working again. Issue started with new iPhone 16 Pro Max

Siri not responding to voice actuation on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Siri does respond to the sidebar clicking. I am using my ReSound Hearing Aids via Bluetooth and I noticed that if I disconnect my Bluetooth, then Siri does seem to respond through voice activation. I’ve tried all of the recommended steps to work around this, but to no avail.

My solution is simple: turn off Siri altogether, install Gemini and start using that. Problem solved. Looks like I’ll be shopping for an android!! P.S. 16 has got to have been the most disappointing device I’ve ever had!!
