Outlook.com issues after iOS 18 update

I saw this happening in the past too.

Outlook.com is not working properly after iOS 18 update.

I tried this with Safari and Chrome on iPhone 14

  • Login is possible.
  • Reading a message is possible.
  • Browsing folders and its messages is possible.
  • Writing a new message is possible.

  • Refreshing the page sometimes won’t work
  • It throws a random error and forces you to close the session and start again.

  • Responding a message won’t work.
  • Forwarding a message won’t work.
  • Moving a message to a folder won’t work.

For the 3 above, the page just quickly refreshes or creates a non-stop looping and finally throws an error.

Issue is between iOS and Outlook.com (it also won’t work with the Outlook app).

Clearing cache, restarting, etc (all basic troubleshooting) didn’t help.

I’m capable to manage my mail (responding messages) only while using Outlook.com on my PC.

Something similar like this happened in the same phone, with other iOS update (16 something…)

Anyone facing the same?

iPhone 14, iOS 18

Have had the same problem since I updated to ios18 I’m not impressed as I’ve never had this problem before apple needs to get an update out asap.

Hi again jackzero.

I had a similar issue - like yours, but it affected me while using my iPhone and my PC as well.

When I browsed around, at that time (about a bit more than a month ago) to understand the case, I just realised I was not alone. I read about people facing the same.

After managing to get support from Microsoft, they have investigated my logs (on their side), and came out with the reason that my account had simply ‘stalled’.

They have done some kind of reset, that allowed me to get back to my mail, without the ‘looping’ thing.

Definitely not your case, as you are capable to use your account on your iPad, right?

I hope for the best, and in case you plan to report something to Microsoft, you can mention the ‘stalled account’ scenario. You never know…

Pretty sure it’s not Apple, it’s the outlook live not keeping up with compatibility. Looks like little by little they are going to stop supporting Apple so maybe it’s time to change my mail software. Too bad I really liked Outlook live, but it really is becoming more trouble than it’s worth. They probably think they’re going to sell more full paid edition this way, for me they’ll just lose me as a long-term customer. They started off about six months ago, conflicting with yahoo and AT&T mail servers now with iOS 18 update there’s all kinds of issues. Too bad used to be a nice mail app. Guess I’ll just have to start getting used to Apple mail instead.

I’ve definitely experienced something similar in the past with Outlook.com after an iOS update. It’s really frustrating when basic functions like replying or forwarding emails stop working, especially after clearing cache and doing all the usual troubleshooting steps. Sometimes these issues are fixed after a patch from either Apple or Microsoft, so hopefully, they release a fix soon.

Hi.

Not sure I understand your case…

Are you saying you hold an old iPhone, and cannot take advantage of updates?

Have you tried to use Outlook.com (over browser) instead of Outlook app or even Mail app?

Apparently, after the recent update to 18.1, I recovered the ability to manage my Outlook mail account over browser.

Still need to perform more tests…

Anyone still facing the original issue reported (after you update to 18.1)?
