Where is "Favorite" in iPhone Photos app in iOS 18?

I can’t either ..apparently I have to create a separate album with favorites photos to be able to select them

It’s in pined collections, the first item. It’s dumb and pretty stupid aid if you don’t have pinned collections edabeld i don’t even think you can reach it

I don’t understand that move Favorites to the middle of nowhere in Photos App. I use it every time when I open App. Now I need to scroll and find it. How bad was that decision by Apple Developers’ Team?

Oh, did they change the name of favourites to pinned collections? That might’ve been more helpful if they explained that.

Because pinned collections so many other companies are using that terminology and I just thought that Apple was a little bit more distinct.

So you actually have to go into pin collections And then take out the things that you don’t want pinned and what’s left as the word favourites but you can’t change the name.

I agree this was a horrible move! Needless to say screenshots are nowhere to be found I screenshot work schedule to cover my a**. Now I am left hanging like how the alarms don’t work, unless I totally delete them. I have to add new ones with a new sound. This got me wrote up for trusting Apple!

So how should we send / use the favorite marked pictures through 3rd party apps like sending my fav pictures via whatsapp, opening my favorite pictures in Snapseed to edit them etc. they all work through accessing albums; which pinned collections isnt anymore. Apple made favorites completely useless. Not a single thought was put in the redesign. I really hope they backtrack this suboptimal redesign because the user experience is now abysmal.

In photo app, scroll to bottom, select “customize & recorder”, make sure “pinned collection” is selected, move that above album.

Yeah it’s silly that they are doing these updates while messing up our experience.

Solution!!

Go to photos

scroll down and look for pinned collections

Now click and drag pinned collections folder to any of the folders u prefer under Album ✅

Now open d watsup app and go to Album

U will now see the pinned collections in the folder u dragged it to!

I still dont see the heart symbol representing fav photos in the main library. Earlier in all photos the favorite ones had heart symbol so u dont delete them but now its missing. Why would apple do it

Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, use the feedback link already provided in this thread to let them know your thoughts. I've let them know how much I like the re-design.

There are probably over 1,000 features of Apple products that no one asked for. So what? I really like the redesigned Photos app, it’s a real improvement over the previously “clunky” UI.
