I've probably got 200 odd playlists, mostly smart. I only use non-smart playlists as data sources for smart playlists. I only use the auto-artwork for all playlists. All the music is mine, bought, owned and ripped by me. I don't use Apple Music streaming. I have about 25'000 songs in my library and I listen to music about 8 hours a day. I spend at least half an hour a day in the Music app creating/editing playlists and updating the library with track information (e.g. backing singers, engineer, release dates, guitar tunings, harp keys, runout info, etc.). I change playlist titles often - e.g. I'm currently listening to a playlist of albums I bought when I lived in a particular location which have been listened to <112 times; it's called "No. 17<112" When I've finished it, I'll change the rules to <113 and rename the playlist accordingly.
I haven't use the work-around of 16/10/24 because I don't need to. I've simply deleted of all my playlists which don't have auto-artwork (i.e. the artwork at the top of the window is just grey) after replicating them by duplicating playlists which do have artwork and then changing the duplicates to the rules or contents that I want. Ditto if I want to create a new playlist I just duplicate a working one then change it to what I need. As a result I don't have any problems changing playlist names because, as I've stated here and on other discussions, for me this name-update problem is only related to whether or not the playlist has auto-artwork. If I want to change the name of an empty smart playlist which has a greyed out auto-artwork then then first I change the rules to fill it with something so that the auto-artwork is populated then I'm able to change the name with no problems.
I also have a smart playlist which shows the latest played tracks which I check regularly to make sure track metadata is being updated.
