How to fix sync issue Between iPhone Pro and Apple Devices App on Windows says "the apple music library could not be opened"

I have the same problem. They shouldn't have disabled syncing in iTunes (as bad as that was) until they had this working. I have the music library setup (which is another issue) but it won't see it in the Apple Devices app.

I have the same issue on my iPhone 13 pro max. Ever since Apple changed iTunes and Apple Music they're trying to force us to subscribe to Apple Music. This is worse than syncing to iTunes, at least iTunes worked properly although it was slow.

Needing Apple Device App and Apple Music App is just another step of dysfunction. I ran both under Admin, restarted computer and still nothing works.

Apple just can't get anything right the first time. I bet if I subbed to Apple Music it would work but why would I sub when I have my own music?

Ok so I fixed my issue with Apple Music library not being open when using Apple Device. I have all my music on an external SSD drive and it wasn't connected to my PC. Once I plugged it in, it worked.

So make sure that Apple Music app knows where your music folder is before trying to sync.

I have this same issue on Windows 10. Something does seem to be stuck and continually trying to perform a task while failing and restarting another thread. The worst thing is it doesn't clean up after itself. If you kill Apple Devices, the MobileDeviceProcess child processes don't quit. In fact, I think every time I kill one another spawns in its place. This reminds me of the old Logic Bomb technique to freeze a computer with an unending spawn of child processes.

I should clarify that my iPhone 15 does correctly sync with my Windows 10 PC, but as others have pointed out, I can't see Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Audio but I can see Files. Woah, what just happened, now I see everything but photos and music as they say I am using iCloud Photos and iCloud Music. How do I turn those off?

I had a similar issue. When I switched over to Apple Devices/Music (from iTunes) it didn't carry over the setting of my music library folder location, which I have located on my D: drive. Once I changed the settings to use the correct library folder path I was able to sync just fine.

Same here. I looked for the solution about the MD crash reporter, but that task was not running. Like others, openingthe Apple Music app didn't effect any change.

That worked thanks. Ridiculous they have millions and millions of devices out there and haven't fixed this.

It appears they did an update. It’s working for me now. I had already had the apps installed. Wasn’t working as of last week but today the playlists show. 😃
