How to fix sync issue Between iPhone Pro and Apple Devices App on Windows says "the apple music library could not be opened"

Upon installing the new Apple Music, Apple Devices apps from the Microsoft Store - I am unable to get my Iphone 14 Pro to sync.

Windows recognizes it - I can browse the photo library from file explorer.

Apple devices app sees - I can update, backup and do what I need.

However from within the Apple devices app, music says ""the apple music library could not be opened" and asks me to open the (new) apple music app to fix the problem.

I open the new Apple Music App and nothing changes.

I see no way to sync my music to my iPhone.

This did not work for me. I am SO tired of Apple creating software for Windows that is total garbage. At least iTunes was a single app, though clunky. Now there are four clunky apps that don't work. Surprise, Surprise.

Does anyone else have another suggestion?

I FOUND THE SOLUTION! you have to also install apple tv, someone suggested this to me on reddit and i didnt think much of it but i just tried it and it worked! i had tried reinstalling everything, tinkering with the library folder, deinstalling itunes and lots more, this solved it! i think apple devices needs apple music to sync the movie library and refuses to do anything wiothout it!

I can open the Apple Music app and see my music library. I can play songs and I can add to the library (although you can no longer add an entire folder at once.) However, the Apple Devices app refuses to see that the library is there. I own a great many CDs and have every legal right to put this music on my IPhone and take it with me.

I have the same issue, however I fixed this issue with iTunes recently

Click on Sync, go to device manager, end task for MDCrashReportTool (32bit) that should sync your songs

However, you still have no way to access the music library to select playlists, still shows "the apple music library could not be opened" in Apple Devices

Come on Apple fix this bug lol

I tried opening both the Apple Music and Apple Devices apps as Administrator, but after you grant permission, they just close. Rebooting and trying this again did not help. Opening the apps after this procedure doesn't change anything. This just doesn't work, and it's unacceptable. At this point, there's no reason for Apple not to just let us copy the files onto the phone from File Explorer or Finder.

I had the same issue that the apple music library could not be opened and nothing would show up under "On My Device".

This is what worked for me on 2 different computers. First shutdown the Apple Devices app. Then I download and installed/reinstalled iTunes. On one of the new laptops, I did not have iTunes installed but still had to download and install it. Once iTunes was installed, run Apple Devices App. It detects some mobile device software and proceeds to uninstall it. Once it uninstalls it and starts up, connected my iPhone Pro and everything showed up correctly.

Not exactly sure what it un-installed but it worked on both computers I had.

I ran into this problem as well after just buying an Iphone 15 pro with extra storage so I COULD have my old music library on my phone with 1000's of songs i've invested in over past 18 years. I bought this music long ago from CD's and got rid of the CD's because i downloaded it to my computer. Went back to the Apple Store and spoke with a manager and he said it's copyright issues and they removed access to any music that was imported from CD's as it could fall under the guise of bootlegging music ( even though you've purchased it). So disappointed with Apple right now and may return my phone to get smaller memory. They said only way to access my music is with a paid Apple subscription. If anyone know a way around this chime in!

OMG. It worked. Once the Apple TV app was installed, going to the Apple Devices apps now sees both my iTunes music library (Apple music) AND the music on my phone, AND I can sync.

It did tell me it needed to remove all my music as it said it was a different library.

Going to the Apple Music app did nothing different - still can't see my phone however I'm not sure it is supposed to.

So unlike in iTunes, the syncing happens in the devices app - apparently the Apple Music app has nothing to do with the phone - just where the music is stored. Not quite what I would expect, but it works!
