AirPods Pro 2nd Gen - previous apple ID ?

I bought airpods Pro 2gen that were supposedly brand new, in person transaction and only after the fact did i notice that it had a seal wrap and airpods Pro 2 do not come in a plastic wrap. However, the pull tabs were intact. Here's what worries me though, when I opened the lid my iphone displayed the "not your airpods" message which i don't think is normal on initial setup ? BUT it let me connect and they appeared in my "Find my" so now I'll try to make this as clear as possible:

  1. If the airpods were in fact not new, and were previously connected to someone else's apple ID, and they never removed them from their "find my", BUT I was able to connect to those airpods, and they show up in my "Find My...", Are they still associated with that previous apple ID and their Find my? Because if so, that would mean they can see my location and I am now very paranoid. OR since i am able to have them in my "find my" it cannot possibly be under anyone else's find my?
  2. Does resetting the airpods by using the case only, remove them from "find my"?
  3. If the airpods and the case were to be replaced, do all apple IDs associations transfer to the new serial number? Or are they are not assigned to any apple ID yet, and you have to set them up like you would brand new ones and have to be assigned to an apple id all over again?

Thanks

Return These:

If shown in Find My, then they are seen under your account. But, being they show up as "Not your AirPods", these are not official unpaid from a user's account. So, they are probably returned purchase that was never disassociated from someone's account --something the cashier should have looked into, prior to selling it. So, return these immediately, as this has become a Security & Privacy concern.

Rid of these:

Well, whoever this sell it, it seems they never disassociated it from their Apple ID, prior to doing so. Being such, this has become a Privacy & Security concern. This is the site they should have used prior to handing them over to you: Before you Sell, Give Away, Return, or Recycle your AirPods - Apple Support. The seller should have known better.

Verify these Are Genuine AirPods:

  1. Get the Serial Number: Find the Serial Number of your AirPods - Apple Support
  2. Enter the Serial Number here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
  3. View the Results: If all shows up as an AirPod, then you are fine. If not, then these are fake, and that is likely why you are getting this message.

I MIGHT have opened the lid, closed the lid, and opened it again upon the initial setup, i can't recall, and when I do the exact thing after resetting them it's the same, so: i reset airpods, open the lid, it pops up as "airpods Pro," i close the lid without connecting them, open the lid again and they already pop up as "not your airpods" even though the first lid opening prompted regular "airpods Pro" message.

They don't keep popping up as "not your airpods", once i connect them i never see the message again.

And like i wrote in my post, it was bought from someone, not a store, in person transaction, so i can't return them. And the pull tabs were there and intact so i just don't see how they could have been used.

My AirPods Pro 2 (2022 Lightning MagSafe version) were stolen. I still had my charging case. I activated lost mode on both earbuds but they never popped up on FindMy ever again. So either they failed to activate it or they were never paired with another case. I wouldn’t know. But likely you were sold either stolen or serial number-cloned earbuds, or they forgot to unpair. Did you contact them to confirm?
