IOS 16.4.1 Safari sometimes flash previous page when closing a separate tab

I’m using an iPad mini (6th generation). Ever since it updated it sometimes flashes the previous page when I close a tab. I already figured out that it was not caused by any extension I have.

Hi RevanMandalore,

Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand when closing a separate tab in Safari it will flash the previous page. This article has some relevant steps that may help even though they are for a different issue: If Safari isn't loading websites or quits on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

"Restart your device

Turn off your device and turn it on again.

Clear website data

You can clear website data occasionally to improve Safari performance.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari.
  2. Tap Clear History and Website Data.
  3. Tap Clear History and Data to confirm.

Turn on JavaScript

Turn on JavaScript if it's not already on.

  1. Go to Settings > Safari > Advanced.
  2. Find the JavaScript feature.
  3. Tap the button to turn on JavaScript.

Get more help

If the issue continues and only affects a certain website or webpage, check if you have Private Relay turned on. You can temporarily turn off Private Relay in iCloud Settings."

Also, the steps in this article may help as well: If Safari doesn't open a page or work as expected on your Mac.

If the issue persists, contact Apple Support for further assistance.

Take care.
