Can you share an AirTag with family?

We have an AirTag in our dog’s collar and I keep getting notifications that I’m being tracked whenever I take him for a walk… is there a way to avoid this? I couldn’t find anything permanent.

No. AirTags cannot be shared. They are tied to one Apple ID, and one Apple ID only.

Also Apple does not support the use of AirTags with pets.

I'm afraid it can't be shared, as outlined in this article How to reset your AirTag - Apple Support

"An AirTag can be associated with one Apple ID. If you want to use an AirTag that someone else has used, they need to remove the AirTag from their Apple ID first."

You would have to reset it between users.
