Diabetic monitoring app is not receiving signals from the button in my arm. Same time your issues happen to me.

This is no minor issue as the testament of you all the previous posts. Unfortunately , I recently diagnosed with a Type 1 diabetes and use the electronic button in my arm to keep track go my glucose so I amended how much insulin I take. I do hope other patients clockit otherwise they may end up in A & E. Not all patients make it back from a full hypo. But I have the same issues as you guys plus this diabetes issue and was hoping some one came to a conclusion. BTW potentially this could be a different company’s problem. I have bit defender on my devices and that does fiddle /control a number of network settings. Perhaps I should look at these suppliers too.

Finally I’d be so grateful if anyone could confirm a fix or not - thank you very much.

Sorry but your AI response simply just spit out a bunch of nonsense. This just will lead the OP on a wild goose chase without any resolution.

Specifically for the OP:

  • Yes Bit Defender is junk and should be uninstalled
  • There have been issues related to specific brands of monitoring devices and for further help, it would be necessary to know which one you are using.

If your diabetic monitoring app is not receiving signals from the sensor in your arm, it could indicate a connectivity issue, a problem with the app or device, or a malfunction with the sensor itself. Since you're also experiencing issues with your iCloud or Apple ID, it might suggest a broader problem with your device settings or connectivity. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot both problems effectively:

1. Check the Monitoring Sensor:

  • Ensure Proper Placement: Verify that the sensor (the "button") is securely attached to your arm and has not been dislodged.
  • Check Expiration: Ensure the sensor is still within its usage period, as some devices (like FreeStyle Libre) have a fixed lifespan.
  • Restart the App: Close and reopen the app to refresh the connection.
  • Re-scan the Sensor: If your app uses NFC or Bluetooth, try re-scanning or re-pairing with the sensor.

2. Troubleshoot App and Device Connectivity:

  • Bluetooth Connection:
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth and ensure it’s enabled.
    • Check if the app/device appears under connected devices. If not, pair it again.
  • Background App Refresh:
    • Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and ensure the app has permission to run in the background.
  • Battery and Signal Strength:
    • Ensure your phone and the sensor are fully charged or have sufficient battery.

3. Syncing Issues with iCloud:

Your iCloud being disabled could affect apps that rely on iCloud for backups or synchronization. To fix this:

  1. Sign Out and Back Into iCloud:
    • Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Sign Out.
    • Restart your device and sign in again.
  1. Check App-Specific iCloud Settings:
    • Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud and ensure the diabetic app has access enabled.

4. Reinstall or Update the App:

  • Check the App Store for updates to your diabetic monitoring app.
  • If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the app.

5. Contact Support for Both Issues:

  • Diabetic Monitoring App Support:
    • Reach out to the app's support team for guidance. Many apps have troubleshooting FAQs or a support chat.
    • Check the app's documentation to ensure compatibility with your device's software version.
  • Apple Support for iCloud Issues:
    • If the app relies on iCloud and the issue isn't resolved, contact Apple Support to ensure your Apple ID and iCloud services are fully functional.

6. General Steps for System Integrity:

  • Update Software:
    • Ensure your iPhone’s iOS version is up to date.
    • Check if there are updates for your diabetic monitoring app.
  • Restart Your Phone:
    • Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Test on Another Device:
    • If you have another phone or tablet, try connecting the app and sensor there to rule out device-specific problems.

If the Problem Persists:

  • Replace the sensor if it's malfunctioning. Contact the device manufacturer for a replacement.
  • If multiple systems (app, sensor, iCloud) are failing simultaneously, consider resetting your device's network settings:
    • Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (this will remove saved Wi-Fi passwords).

By systematically addressing each issue, you can determine whether the problem lies with the sensor, app, or device settings.

My apologies for the lateness, it’s been a difficult day.

Please see attached screen shots below of my Freestyle Librelink. The app is installed on my iPhone (just realise I had previously said iPad). I have an iPhone SE, mobile supplier is Sky which we also use for the house wi-fi. iOS: is now 18.1.1. I can confirm that the sensor is able to read the sensor when I force it but it’s the continual connection that seems to have been lost. I’ve had to turn certain alarms off other they continually sound every 10 minutes. It’s key to have the continuous link feeding back to the monitor on the phone as that’s what kicks of the critical alarms and warns when you are going to hypo. So right now I’m trying to check regularly and listen to my body which tells you when things are going wrong, though I’ve missed one today.

Let me know if you want and further info. I’m loathed to change the sensor on the basis that I know it can scan and update my graph when I force a scan.

One other point. There is a v3 of the app and the buttons/sensors. I’m firmly on V2 and the buttons/sensors are not interchangeable.

Thank you again and my apologies for my tardiness.

best regards,

Michelle

Thanks for your replies. I understand a lot of the detailed response and already done many of the actions in relation to the device checks re installation and app updates. These are what I would do anyway. I may not have the detail but I do know a little of problem management resolution. I haven’t tried it on another device and would only do this with a replica of my phone, it’s not like for like and there will be so many differences between the two that it’s really not useful. Unless you’re going to tell me otherwise? I haven’t called either suppliers support lines other than this.

I’ll check the device and up date you with the details tomorrow. I take it that I’m the OP? I’m not up to date with the shortcuts sorry. I get back to you in the morning. Thank you very much for your help.

I’m most grateful.

Michelle, I have a Freestyle Libre 3 plus and the FreeStyle Libre 3 app. My most recent sensor seems to be more fiddly that most. But I'm still able to connect. I believe the sensor connects via bluetooth after you activate it. I'm type II diabetic so I'm more worried about high readings that low ones.

Maybe an option is to update/upgrade to the Freestyle Libra 3?

Hope this helps.

Paul

Thanks Paul. Unfortunately, I think I’m stuck on Version 2 as it links back to the hospital and therefore we alll have to be on the same version. Thanks for the thought. Good news though following recent upgrade, and my sensor change my alerts are all working. I can’t say everything is is fixed, I still have some issues . However, I can live with those but not without the notifications and alarms on the Librelink app.

thank you all for your help.

Kind regards,

Michelle
