After updating iOS to 18.1.1, the mail app is not working. It is totally malfunction and can’t receive nor send email. Start the mail app, it just pops up a white screen. I have tried to offload the app and reinstall it. It’s the same. When I hard reset the phone, it can pop up the mail account list but freezes. How do I fix it?

I have the exact same problem. Apple… You ought to be ashamed of yourself for what you’ve done to so many people. This is inexcusable and unacceptable!!!
One of my gmail accounts is not receiving emails on the iphone since update Thursday night. The second is. Has anyone found a solution? I have switched on and off many times, gone into settings and checked everything I was asked to check by Apple support and it still doesn't receive or send visibly - I received test email on my mac which receives all email as ever. Just not iphone since update. Any solutions?
No, I just use iPhone original mail app. I haven’t changed any settings. I don’t want to restore my iPhone to factory settings as there are many data inside. Are there any methods to fix it? It just occurs since I upgrade to iOS 18.1. I do have other old iPhone. Those which can’t be upgraded to iOS 18, still work properly
I am having the exact same issue. Everything else is working for sound, like text, alert, reminders etc. All of my email settings are set up correctly for incoming but no sound. It’s very frustrating. Sometimes wonder why they put out an update and make us go thru this!

I’ve done this before after upgrading to 18.1. However, once I updated to 18.1.1, the mail is totally malfunctioning. Just show a blank screen. I close the window and reopen the screen. It pops up with mail accounts, but no emails are fetched. After a while, the app automatically closes

I had the same problem right after the update and was able to fix my issue thanks to the IT department for the company I work for. Please give the following a try?
1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
2. Navigate to Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts.
3. Select the affected email account.
4. Tap Account Settings, then Advanced.
5. In the Incoming Settings section, locate the IMAP Path Prefix field.
6. If it's empty or shows a greyed-out "/", retype the forward slash ("/") so it turns white.
7. Tap Done to save the changes.
8. Close and reopen the Mail app to see if the issue is resolved.

*SOLUTION* This issue seems to be limited to accounts that were configured to use the IMAP protocol when they were created on the iPhone. Accounts using POP3 are not affected. Unfortunately there is no way to change an existing mail account from IMAP to POP3 so the only option is to create a new mail account on your iPhone using POP3. Way to go Apple! You become more and more like Microsoft every day!
After IOS Update 18.1.1, my iPhone email Sends & Receives but does not Ring when new mail comes, went to Settings > Apps > Mail > Notifications (On) > Custom Notifications (Selected Account) - Alerts (Enabled). I also checked the Ringer is ON and Volume is UP. Announce Notifications is also ON.
Please fix whatever you did to our mail accounts with this last update. I can only get mail if I reboot my iPad.
I had the same. Solved it by going to “Finish iPad configuration” in config app. I had to agree to terms of use. After that mail started downloading again.
Similar issue here. iPhone 15 pro max, iOS 18.1.1 and ever since upgrading to this iOS my gmail account just freeze on ‘connecting’. I’ve tried turning phone on and off, deleting the mail account and reading it and nothing is fixing this.
I am having the exact same issue! My only work around is to restart my device. This seems to allow mail download to occur.
I know that, but I don’t want to make such a backup because it’s already more than 500GB. Then I need to find a drive to store the data first. Moreover, I’ve done this before. After that, all the data are messed up. Some data of some apps are still missing. So it’s rather troublesome. Are there any methods to make it work? Or do I downgrade the iOS to 17? Or are there methods to reinstall the mail app only?
