My Apple ID has been locked and account recovery does not work
For some unknown reason my Apple ID was locked and my password doesn’t seem to work anymore. I have been locked out of my apple email so I cannot get a recovery code from there but I can get the code sent to my phone number. My only option to unlock my account is through account recovery but account recovery does not work for me. I understand that you cannot use the device that the Apple ID is connected to during account recovery so I have turned off my phone which is the only device which it is connected to. To begin the account recovery I use https://iforgot.apple.com/ and put in the information it asks for and skip the parts that ask for information I cannot access. I do this until it asks me to wait 24 hours until account recovery begins. The account recovery begins and the site tells me how long it’ll take. I check back every now and then to make sure it is working but eventually the site no longer tells me how many days it’ll take and wants me to enter codes again and start a new account recovery. I have repeated this several times and the last attempt said it would take 13 days to complete and got to 9 days before failing (at the time of writing this I am in the 24 hour wait period before the next account recovery). Why does this not work for me, has anyone else experienced this? The only device connected to my account has been turned off for the duration of this and Apple support have offered no help on the matter. This has gone on for weeks and it is important that I get back into my email.
