All of the apps on my Apple TV suddenly stopped opening and only offer the option to move or delete. I can't open anything

We have tried adding new apps to see if that would help. We have reset Apple TV multiple times. We have tried deleting apps. Nothing works. We can't even get to the settings menu to see if it is an issue with the account. My husband's picture started appearing in the top right corner suddenly as if it was a new account but we can't access that at all. It is like the TV went crazy and there is nothing we can do.

Hello sophiey313,

Have you had a chance to try shutting the Apple TV down, and then unplugging it from power for a few minutes before reconnecting it? If not, this may help with some issues that arise.

To help rule out any possible issues with the hardware remote for the Apple TV you may also try setting up the Apple TV Remote on an iPhone or iPad, and use it from that device to see if that allows you to proceed. Thank you Eric_G1,

It is definitely something with the remote as I worked with Apple Support and nothing has fixed the issue so we've ruled out anything else. We use a different remote than the one that came with our TV so I am not sure if the suggestions in these articles will work but I'll try it. Thanks for your suggestions!
