The benefit is in letting people quickly know of an issue. Previously, if a security issue were addressed in a patch or update, users who did not have auto-updates engaged would not see them in a timely manner. There are a lot of people how never check for any updates for their devices.

I don't find anything annoying about Rapid Security Response. I appreciate the fact that Apple has a way to quickly provide the latest security to protect me and my data.
