Your cell provider doesn't know what they're speaking about. While it's true iPhone 6s will no longer get iOS updates (it is not capable of running the newest iOS 16), it is capable of running iOS 15.7 which was just released Monday and your phone is an LTE capable iPhone, which will still receive phone calls for a long time to come. It is an old model, but it is not yet obsolete.
