Airdrop disabled, not working after updating to Monterey 12.5.1
I can't turn on Airdrop at all. The airdrop icon on the menu bar is blacked out and it's been removed from the folder favorites menu.

Go to the Finder/Sidebar preference pane and make sure AirDrop is checked to add it back to the sidebar in the Favorites section.
Then give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

Thank u for your help and recommendations. Unfortunately after trying everything suggested (including reinstalling OS), the problem persists. Airdrop is not even included in the finder/sidebar list. The airdrop icon is blacked out on the menu bar and when I click on the control panel the airdrop option is grayed out and I can’t move the selector to turn it on.
