Airdrop cannot be opened

It doesn't appear in Finder's sidebar and it doesn't appear in Finder -> Preferences -> Sidebar

When I navigate to System/Library/CoreServices/Finder/Contents/Applications I see the AirDrop icon, but when opening I get this error:

The operation can't be completed because the item can't be found

I tried many workarounds in similar questions, including:

  • Updating the OS to latest version
  • Turning the wifi and bluetooth off and on
  • Restarting
  • Logging out and in AppleID
  • Disable and enable Handoff
  • Delete everything in ~/Library/Preferences
  • Create a new user account and check that for that user they have the same problem
  • Run
defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser DisableAirDrop -bool NO

Thanks in advance!

You do not say what exact Mac is this... Does it even support Airdrop ?

Use AirDrop on your Mac - Apple Support

Use AirDrop on your Mac to send files to devices near you

You can try reinstalling the MacOS on top of your existing macOS to sort anomalies
