How to load old iTunes libraries into Music app on MacBook Pro running macOS Tahoe?

I am running Tahoe 26.1 (25878) on my 2020 13 inch MacBook Pro and I have come across several old iTunes Library files from 2009 to around 2014 on some old backup external drives and I would like to review them for some old playlist that have some sentimental value to me.

I tried to start Music with the Option button to try and Create Library and I picked the .itl file from the backup but got this message: “iTunes Library.itl” does not appear to be a valid library. Please choose a different library.

Is there a way to get these older iTunes libraries to be loaded so I can review them or is there a tool that would let me review the contents of a specific playlist created only in these older libraries as I am hopeful to find an older playlist I lost track of?

Thank you in advance for any help someone can offer me.

As far as I can tell Music only accepts libraries that were made by the Mojave version of iTunes. Anything older is deemed unacceptable. Monterey in particular cannot open .itl files at all, and for all I know Tahoe might be picky too. I can covert pre-Mojave .itl into Mojave .itl, and Mojave .itl into Catalina and later compatible .musiclibrary format on an older Mac mini I have at home. I've successfully converted well over a hundred libraries by now. Check the bio in my profile here for contact details.
