I believe your iMac can run Tahoe, so I would recommend upgrading to at least Sequoia (or to Tahoe).
BUT ... Lightroom 5 cannot be installed because the installer is 32 bit and won't execute on a modern MacOS. That said, I even have an old installation of Lightroom 4 on my Mac running Sequoia and it does actually run, but many options do not work properly and when it is quit it simply crashes. I believe this is what you would experience with Lightroom 5 on anything beyond Mojave; if it runs at all, it will do so with many issues and options that don't work properly.

I think your best option is to obtain a current Lightroom subscription from Adobe. It can be as little as $10/month. If that does not meet your needs, there are alternatives that may be slightly cheaper and purport to offer much of the same functionality.
