Mac Mini M1 running Tahoe 26.1.
If I view a picture from pictures it opens in preview.
I then click Tools->Show_Location_Info.
The box is very small so I click 'Show in Maps'.
There is a brief flash of a pin but then it shows the correct area but no exact pin.
Is there some way to make it do this or is it a bug?
Image Opened In the Preview application will not work for your wants
The Photos application will offer the Pinned Location on the Map

Open the image in your Photos.app then scroll down until the map presents itself— select and double click that map to open up...

Below is are images taken of the Harbour of Hong Kong from the airplane as we flew over in the winter of 1987
The image is in the " Photo " application
If you Secondary Click ( Control + click ) and choose " Get Info "
A Sub Menu should appear
There is no need to Open the Image file in the " Preview " application
You should see the Map appearing with the Pinned
Tested using a M4 Mac Mini with macOS 26.1
FWIW, your only option at this point is to zoom the screen.

Yes I've found that but it is the same size as the box in preview and it is not resizeable.
My eyesight isn't what it used to be so I open in maps to make it bigger.
The previous 'get info' window was resizeable I cannot understand why they changed it.

You are correct that in the Preview app in prior versions of macOS the Inspector pane was a separate window, whereas in Tahoe it is integrated into the main window. Apple doesn’t generally explain their reasoning, but it seems logical that the inclusion of the Preview app in iPadOS 26 and iOS 26 means that putting that info in the main window makes sense (the former now supports windowing but not by default, the latter doesn’t support windowing).
Ok I found that thank you. Not quite as direct as before but does the job.
Show picture location in maps from preview does not show a pin.
