Listening to Airpod Max wired with USB-C

I want to connect my AirPods Max to my mac to listen via USB-C, not bluetooth, in order to get lossless audio and less latency. But It only shows up as a wired connection (Airpods Max USB Audio) when bluetooth is turned off on my mac. I cant turn bluetooth off becuase I use a magic mouse.

Thanks for the screenshot.

A. Update your Mac:

If you look at the top-left corner of your screenshot, you can see whee it reads Software Update Available. So, see about updating your Mac. Important: Create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac prior to installing this update. That way, you can have something to restore the Mac from, should anything go wrong with the change.

B. Get AppleCare:

If you look at the top left cornet of your screenshot it reads: Add AppleCare Coverage: There are 58 days left to add coverage for your Mac. Cover multiple devices with AppleCare One. If this is a hardware error, then maybe you can get this to work through that.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Change the Output Device:

In the bottom (Output & Input) of your screenshot, where it reads: "Play sound effects through", change "MacBook Pro Speakers" to "AirPods Max USB Audio". Report back the results.
