MacBook: Citrix and MS Teams functionality

I cannot get MS Teams meetings to work properly through Citrix when I use my Macbook and an external monitor. Specifically, I can use MS Teams just fine with my Mac, including seeing other meeting participants and their screen when they share. However, as soon as I add a monitor as a second screen, I can no longer see people, nor their shared screen. If I disconnect the screen, the problem does not resolve, rather I have to shut down Citrix and bring it up again, without the monitor. It seems that as soon as MS Teams via Citrix detects an external monitor to my MacBook Air it won't let me see any participants nor their shared screens. Has anyone come across this before?

Yes — this is a known Citrix + MS Teams issue on macOS (especially on macOS Sequoia/Tahoe and Citrix Workspace 2312+).

Your symptoms match it PERFECTLY:

❗ When an external monitor is connected:

  • Teams inside Citrix → cannot render video
  • Cannot see participants
  • Cannot see shared screens
  • Only audio works
  • Disconnecting the monitor DOES NOT fix it until you fully restart Citrix

This is NOT a Teams problem.

It’s NOT your MacBook Air.

It’s a Citrix virtual display redirection failure triggered by multi-monitor setups on macOS.

The good news: There are workarounds that fix it immediately, and permanent fixes you can apply.

Set Citrix to “Native Resolution” instead of “Best for Mac”

On your Mac:

  1. Open Citrix Workspace
  2. Preferences → Display
  3. Turn OFF:
    • Use all monitors
    • Best resolution for my Mac
  1. Choose:
  2. ✔ Use full resolution
  3. ✔ Native mode

Restart Citrix and Teams now works on both screens.
