Mail app keeps asking for password. How to fix this?

For the last 24hrs, the mail app on my iPhone 13 is unable to receive emails. It keeps asking me to type in password over and over. Called Optus as I have an optusnet address and we spent an hour doing everything we could. All incoming/outgoing server details are correct. They then said it was a device issue. So here I am. Can anyone help please?

I had to set up an app-specific password for getting mail in the settings for my 3rd party mail account on the server of my provider.

After using this password in the settings for the 3rd party mail server on my iPhone, receiving mail worked again.

If you can't receive email on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support


Also check the server ports that the Mail app uses to get mail, and compare them to the ones set by the provider.
