Can’t turn off parental controls after turning 18

Parental controls like screen time have been very strict on my phone the past two years and I’ve been waiting to turn 18 for them to finally turn off. I see on here that they don’t automatically, but now that I’m 18 I should be able to turn them off myself. When I go to my Apple family it says (You): Age 18. But, when I click on myself it says I’m 17 and unable to stop using family sharing. How do I get it to register that I’m actually 18? I’ve restarted it already.

Age is calculated based on the Birthdate you have set for your Apple Account.

click here ➜ Update the birthday associated with an Apple Account - Apple Support

Also, only the parents that set up restrictions can turn them off as it will require the screen time passcode that was set.

You can choose to leave the Family Group once you are 18, but you still need to passcode to disable Screen time settings.

Not according to:

Family Sharing overview for kids and teens - Apple Support

"When you turn 18, you can decide to leave your Family Sharing group or manage your own Screen Time settings."

I wonder if it is a case of age determined "by birth year" as mentioned in If an app asks to track your activity - Apple Support?
