Hi, so I only have 300 photos and videos in my photo library and maybe the same in emails, yet my photo app takes up 10 gigabytes of storage and no matter what I delete my I cloud storage wont go down and i need to get emails but they are not coming through because it’s full

Another difficulty is that you need to keep at least 10% of the storage free to handle files. When iCloud or iPhone storage is full, there may not be enough room to manipulate files at all, and it may become difficult to even delete pictures. You may be more successful deleting small files first.
Another option is to pay a buck or three and get more iCloud Storage for one month so that you can deal with the problem. When you've gotten yourself uncluttered, you can cancel the extra storage.

Deleting iCloud Photos places them in your Recently Deleted area for thirty days. They occupy as much space there as they did before deletion.
