How can I regain access to my stolen email address and protect my data?

Hello. I'm receiving email notifications addressed to Gulya Yunusov, but it's not me. Someone created an account with my email address. How can I get my email address back? Can they see my data? How did they do it?

Are you seeing any indications of unknown mail unexpectedly being sent from your account, with copies of unknown messages to unknown recipients still in your sent email folder?

Is this Apple iCloud email, or some other email provider?

At least so far, it is more likely somebody flubbed some web sign-up forms, and others flubbed the sign-up verification process.

Do people flub sign-ups? Yep. I’ve gotten trip-related messages and itineraries and rental receipts for somebody’s Iberian peninsula trip, and endless cheap sneaker ads, among other misrouted email, all because people didn’t know their own email addresses, and the website developers didn’t verify the email addresses submitted.

But at least so far, this looks like a routine email address mistake. Not a hack, and not a virus. Not so far.

I’m receiving mail that is meant for Gulia Yunusova, but my name is Asya. The name of my email starts with ‘asya.breath…’. How likely is it that Gulia entered an email with the name Asya for her account? I’m getting messages saying that her iCloud storage is running out.

And also — I’m afraid that my account could be hacked. Is anything dangerous happening? She can’t harm me, right? How can I disconnect my email from someone else’s account?
