Chrome crashes upon opening on Sequoia 15

First, update to Sequoia 15.7.2, the current version. Google Chrome 142.0.7444.162 should not crash on Sequoia. Make sure it's up to date as well. If it still crashes after updating everything, try starting Chrome in Safe Mode by holding the shift key while starting Chrome.

May consider an alternative https://brave.com which is essentially Google Chrome without the Google baggage

Has it always been this way for you? If not, what changed between when it worked and when it does not work?

Give Brave a try. It's essentially Chrome without Google. It might work.

Why are you using Chrome instead of Safari?

Here's some food for thought:

Google is known to "phone home" with users data as was found out with this new Google Photos service:  Google Photos may be free — but there's still a cost.
