Old Gift card issue

Hi guys,

So i found 2 old apple gift cards in my drawer. They were offered by friends in 2 different birthdays to offer me iphones. More thsn 10 years of completly forgetting about the cards. I go online to try to redeem them but they do not work. After calling the apple support team and some wait time, they send new codes for the cards and for my chock it is 10 dol and 20 dol. I know the amounts are much more as I was supposed to get Iphones with the cards. I believe the money was taken somehow because the cards are too old and now that I am trying to use them 16 and 14 years later, Only God knows what happened. Please share if you have a similar story.

Thank you so much for the attention. I really appreciate it. I am not relying on memories. I still have the note that came with one of the cards and it says value of the card= iPhone 4S. I do not think the iPhone was ever 10$ or 20$. I would love if someone investigates what Apple practices are when it comes to unclaimed gift cards. Because the cards are supposed to never expire but Apple people have the data and maybe for them when a card is unclaimed for more than a decade it gives them the right to just take it!!! that is honestly my feeling about this.

You are posting to a Support Forum made up of other users just like you and no one here has any ability to perform an investigation. The Government agency that is responsible for reporting consumer complaints is the FTC and you can file a report there. Unfortunately it is currently shutdown, so you would have to wait until the Government opens up again.

For making a store purchase, I do remember as a teenager saving my money to make a large purchase and on my Birthday's would receive Gift Cards to assist. For example when the iPhone 4s was released it was $199 (with a 2 year contract) and while I would not have received a Gift Card for the full $199, I would have family members contribute with smaller amounts so I could make that purchase.

I just do not believe that.

Only way to prove otherwise would be the accompanying receipt which obviously is not the case. I include the receipt with Gift Cards, so they know how much it is for. Beyond that, you are relying on 14 year old memories, where I would have a hard time remembering what gifts I received and from whom just 5 years ago, let alone how much a Gift Card may have been worth.
