MacBook Pro M4 - most images in finder can only be viewed in icon size 72 x 72

Once I increase the size, one by one my images begin to turn white and then unviewable.

Please see the attachments. They used to always be viewable at any size but not anymore.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

If your screenshots are of folders of photo files in the Icon view you can change it to be as large as 512 pixels.

1 - open the folder of the image files.

2 - go to the View menu in the Menu bar and select Show View Options.

3 - move the Icon Size slider to the size you want in the folder:

Also there's always selecting an image file and hitting the Space bar to enlarge it. Then scroll thru the files with the up and down arrows.

Hi and thank you for taking the time to respond. As my posts states, I am doing exactly what you are requesting (and have been for 10+ years on my various MacBooks). Unfortunately, with the new M4 Sequoia 15.6.1, when I attempt to enlarge my images in the "show view options" from the current 72x72, they turn white and are not viewable. I am only able to view them at 72x72 or less. If I have misunderstood anything then please let me know! I have bad eyes and these small icons are wearing them down even more!
