Here's what I use:

That was $17, and it works well. Since you have a MacAir which has no SD card port, you may want to get a reader that has both, though those seem to cost twice as much or more.


The card appears as a drive, and I drag the files to my Mac so I can save them on an archive, and iI then drag them from the Finder to Photos.
