Parental controls reveal my location to ex-husband

I set up parental controls for my son and invited his father (Ex husband) to join so he could also manage on his time. Today i was horrified to notice that despite my phone location being turned off he can see where all my devices are. I have my air pods with me constantly so for the past month he has known here i am at all times. Apple how to overcome this. Not good enough. Android so much better with parental controls. To add to insult apple charged me for his screen mirroring app (have a guess what he uses that for)

Share your location in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

Stop sharing your location

You can stop sharing your location with a specific friend or hide your location from everyone.

  • Stop sharing with a friend: Tap People at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the person you don’t want to share your location with. Tap Stop Sharing My Location, then tap Stop Sharing Location.
  • Hide your location from everyone: Tap Me at the bottom of the screen, then turn off Share My Location.

You being charged for his apps is because you are the Family Sharing Organizer. You cannot disable that unless you turn off purchase sharing for everybody which will include any children. You can ask him to make sure he has enough balance to cover his purchases or you can remove him from the group entirely (and probably get into an argument about joint control of what any children do). You don't say why you are even still in a family sharing group with him. If you cannot trust him enough for Family Sharing then you shouldn't be in a group with him.

Only because you turned on Purchase Sharing. It allows all members to make purchases to your payment method. There is no need to have it turned on, you would just need to add funds to your son's Apple Account yourself to allow him to make purchases. Subscriptions are still shared across members with Purchase Sharing turned off, it is just an app or content purchased by one member that will not be shared to the others.

Nobody on this forum works for Apple and we have no more say with them than you do. To have your say with productive feedback about the system, click on this link for Apple products feedback links --> Product Feedback - Apple

Apple may not respond but your comment will be read.

Unless you have purchase sharing turned on then it is impossible for anybody to make a purchase and have it charged to your card. If this was happening then we'd be seeing a thousand threads per day about this.
