iPhone 17 Pro Max airdrop photos show 'cannot read metadata'

I have a new iphone 17 pro max and when I try to airdrop photos to my Macbook Air which is running Sequoia 15.1.1 I can airdrop photos no problem and then minutes later if I try I get an error message on photos saying 'cannot import item, unable to read metadata or file may be corrupt'

I have tried automatic and most compatible in the format settings on the phone but this has not helped.

Can you sort this problem out for me please

I have never had any problems with my previous phone an iphone 12 so am very frustrated that this is happening!
