Searching saved /sent email using Gmail on Apple Mail

I am using a Mac Mini running Tahoe. I use Apple Mail to integrate and read my email. However, I am growing frustrated with its inability to search saved/sent emails. As a result, I end up using Safari or Chrome—whichever browser is convenient at the moment—to access my Gmail account directly and search for the email in that manner.

I find myself doing this repeatedly throughout the day; it's unproductive and a nuisance. I purchased my MAC for its ease of use and functionality, but this is one area that is making me think twice.

I have run through all my settings. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be very helpful.
