Desktop function of MacBook is creating mirrored desktops instead of new ones

I like using the Desktop function on my MacBook to differentiate the multiple activities and projects I have going on. However, my Desktop function has been malfunctioning whenever I attempt to create a new desktop. Every time I click the "+" button on Mission Control, it creates a "Desktop 2" with the same tabs in "Desktop 1", and whenever I interact with a "Desktop 2" tab, such as closing it, it closes it in "Desktop 1". Essentially, every time I open a new desktop, the new desktop mirrors "Desktop 1" and doesn't give me a new blank area to work on. I've reset my MacBook to try and fix this issue but it still hasn't gone away. Is there any way to fix this problem at home, or do I need to go in-person to the Apple Store to figure this out?

This is due to Finder (and other applications, if they are set the same way) being "Assigned" to "All Desktops".

Click and hold the Finder icon in the Dock, and under Options, locate "Assign to Desktops" and select "None".

Repeat for any other application that is being replicated in all desktops.
