How to Permanently Delete Specific Notifications in System Settings in Sequoia

There are several notification entries from websites I don't recognise in System Settings/Notifications.They do not appear in the list of notifications in Safari settings. How can I permanently delete them? I can only find Apple's instructions for turning them off, which I have done, but would like to delete them completely. Screenshot shows the only advice I can find from Apple. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, Go to the Finder, and choose the Go menu, followed by Go to Folder. Enter the following and don't forget the first "~" character:

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/RemoteNotifications

Do you have anything listed in there? You can post a screenshot for anything listed, or identify the filenames/folders and delete. If you delete anything in there, you have to follow up by restarting your computer for anything to be changed.

Try these troubleshooting steps:

  • Remove all Notification from the Safari settings. I do see there are a couple of websites that you want to get Notifications, so make note of those and with the checkbox selected to Allow website to ask for Notifications, then next time you visit the website, you can reenable them again.
  • Start up in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key after restart and keep holding until you see the Apple logo. There should be a message on the screen confirming you are in Safe Mode. Check if they have been removed and restart again normally to exit Save Mode.

  • Remove/disable Extensions in Safari > Settings.

And without any resolution with any of those steps, post the free EtreCheck report using the Additional Text option when posting. The report contains no personal information and will provide details about your system and files launching on startup.

Yes, Jim, we found them all in that folder and we deleted them. Then we re-started, and they still appeared in System Settings: Notifications. So, we repeated the steps and this time put each folder in the bin, then emptied the bin and re-started. BUT they are still there in the list !!!

One factor might be that the 27" iMac with this problem is running Ventura 13.7.8, not Sequoia (my mistake—it's the MacBook Air that has Sequoia).

Please let us know if you have any further ideas. Best wishes.
