I just got an ultra 2 watch and it connects to Bluetooth on my phone but I can add it to my watch app on the phone?

sometimes you have to reset the apple watch in order to connect to iphone have you tried that?
I just got the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and tried the steps listed above. When we get to the animation on the Apple Watch that says "Put Apple Watch near iPhone", the devices don't see each other and then the Watch just starts up to the watch face. The iPhone can connect to the iPhone via Bluetooth though. We've tried 3 different phones and the same thing happens with each one of them. My particular phone is an iPhone 13 Pro Max. iPhone has the latest update. I was trying to see if the Watch could be updated but there is no software update option on it. Help please.
