What exactly is needed to run Time Machine against a NAS on MACOS26?
I had purchased a Buffalo LinkStation LS220 NAS to replace my Time Capsule since Apple had deprecated AFP with Tahoe. However, Time Machine will not identify the LS200 as a Time Machine target unless I enable the AFP service on it, but then, refuses to create a sparse bundle file since AFP has been deprecated.
Fortunately, I was able to get a refund on my purchase. However, it is unclear what is necessary on a NAS for Time Machine to be able to initiate a Time Machine target on it. Apple says it needs a NAS that runs SMB, which the Buffalo LS220 does, but still won't recognize it.
