Are USB-C Magic Keyboards and Magic Mice (non-iPad) non-serialized items?

I’m having a hardware issue with my Magic Keyboard, which should still be under warranty. Unfortunately, I’ve misplaced the original purchase invoice.

When I contacted an Apple Authorized Service Provider, they told me that Magic Keyboards are non-serialized items, and that I’d need to get a duplicate invoice from the retailer for warranty verification.

Is that true? Do USB-C Magic Keyboards and Magic Mice (for Mac, not iPad) really have no serial numbers, and is the purchase invoice the only way to verify warranty coverage?

I believe that each BlueTooth device is supposed to have a unique 48-bit hardware address. That's a type of serial number, even if it is meant more for the benefit of computers and other electronic devices, than for direct human consumption.

If you run System Information (shortcut: Option– > System Information), and click on "Bluetooth" in the sidebar, you'll see lists of known Bluetooth devices and their Bluetooth addresses. I have the Lightning version of the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad, and the rechargeable Lightning version of the Magic Mouse, and both show up in this report.

Whether there is a good way to use this unique identifier to determine warranty coverage, I don't know.
