Apple Pencil 2nd gen charging issue with cases on iPad Pro

Hi! I have an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil (2nd generation). I recently bought cases for both, but now the Pencil won’t charge when both cases are on. The battery isn’t perfect anymore, but it’s still fine. I read on some forums that leaving the Apple Pencil uncharged for too long can damage its battery, and that’s what worries me.

So here’s my dilemma: should I use the Pencil without its case (which I’d rather not), or can I keep the cases on and just remove them at the end of the day to charge? When I’m home, I can easily take the case off the iPad and let the Pencil charge then. My main question is: would that routine cause any harm to the Pencil’s battery, or is it fine to charge it only once a day like that?

It is completely safe to leave your Pencil docked with your iPad for an extended period - in fact, this is recommended…

A second generation Apple Pencil should be kept docked with the iPad when not in active use - as this ensures that the tiny internal battery is kept optimally charged when not in use. Charging only occur when the battery requires charge from the iPad, optimal charge being entirely automatic.

Keeping the Pencil separated from the iPad when unused risks allowing its battery to discharge; if allowed to remain in this state, the battery will suffer irreparable damage. When the battery fails, the only remedy is to replace the entire Pencil; the battery is not a serviceable item.

An otherwise healthy Apple Pencil will suffer no negative consequences from being docked with its host iPad for extended periods.
