I have it connected with usbc and I downloaded the scanner app but it’s not on my iPad anywhere. Works great with MacBook Pro though. I know it’s not a new one but it’s simple to use. Not sure if I want to use a 3rd party app.

only way to get new software on your ipad is apples app store
so if you download some app from a website that will not work for you
if you did download the epson scanning app from app store then you can use search to locate it if you wish

if epson do not have an app which support communicating with their scanner using usb then it's rather unlikely you will ever be able to get the 2 communicating
