When does app store automatically check for new app updates?

So I have automatic app updates enabled on my iPhone. Though, every day I'm opening the app store and click on my profile and swipe down in order for it to find if there any new updates. I was wondering though, if i do not scroll myself, how often and when will it check if there are new app updates?

If you would rather have app store notify you when an update is available, automatic updates would need to be off.

Sorry I don't know for sure. We are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community.

Apple support's onlne article (link below) contains some info about both automatic and manual app updates.

How to manually update apps from the App Store - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Turn automatic app updates on or off

If you prefer to manually update all your apps, turn off automatic updates. When you do this, you receive notifications from the App Store each time an update for one of your apps is released.

How to turn automatic app updates on or off on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > App Store.
  2. Turn App Updates on or off."

and

"How to manually update apps on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap the My Account button or your photo at the top of the screen.
  3. Scroll down to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All."

Re:" I am not manually updating my apps",

That's ok! Just saying you have the choice, ie: if you don't want to be continually checking for them, you can be notified instead.

Re: "wondering if and when app store automatically checks for updates".

Sorry I don't know. Apple doesn't always make info. available to the public. Much could depend on the third-party developers who prepare the updates for release.

For the answer you seek: You can likely check by seeing how long it takes after an update is released for Apple to Apple automatically install it.

Also, you could watch for how long it takes after a major iOS version is released for Apple to update your third-party (non-Apple) apps. (Again: this may depend upon the app-developers).

Hey. I am not manually updating my apps, i only scroll to check for available updates in order for the automatic update to do them because i have done a test where for a few days i didn't scroll at all to check for new updates. Then after a few days, i opened the app store to see if there were any new updates but there wasn't, so i scrolled and a good amount of updates came up. Some of them were released even 3 days prior to that day. So that's why I'm wondering if and when app store automatically checks for updates.
